Back Behind the Lens: A New Chapter for Khurana Kreative Photography

I can't even begin to express how full my heart feels writing this first blog post for Khurana Kreative Photography. If you’re new here, welcome! And if you've been here from the early days, thank you for sticking with me. I’m so thrilled to officially reintroduce my photography work again, with a fresh new name, renewed energy, and the same deep passion for storytelling through imagery.

My journey with photography began back in 2014, when I first started capturing portraits under the name Smiely Khurana Photography. What began as a creative outlet quickly blossomed into a business rooted in joy, connection, and trust. Over the years, I’ve had the honour of photographing hundreds of incredible people, couples, families, models, and brands. From spontaneous shoots to planned celebrations, each session has been a beautiful story I got to help tell.

Throughout the years, I’ve always challenged myself to explore new creative formats, including professional videography for weddings and corporate clients. While studying Motion Picture Arts in university and working as a film producer, I found myself drawn deeper into the world of storytelling. My career eventually led me into the heart of the film industry, where I shifted focus toward sustainability, helping productions adopt more eco-conscious practices.

Today, I lead The Sustainable Act, a climate media agency that brings together my passions for the planet and storytelling. I'm the host of The Sustainable Act podcast, work with awesome community members and organizations to amplify climate storytelling and get to host cool events in Vancouver!

But no matter where my path has taken me, photography has remained a constant, a quiet, soulful passion that never left my side.

Over the past few years, I’ve continued to do shoots by request, for returning clients, referrals, and kind strangers who found my work. I just rarely promoted it. But the love I have for this work? It never faded. Which is why I'm beyond excited to officially relaunch as Khurana Kreative Photography.

Since announcing my return, the outpouring of love and support from my community has meant the world to me. Hearing from folks who watched me grow up and evolve as an artist reminded me why I started in the first place. This is more than photography. It’s about honouring your stories, capturing real moments, and celebrating who you are.
